One of the oldest companies in the archery world, Hoyt has been in the business since 1931. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Hoyt is a company that is proud of its American heritage. Their bows are known for being some of the finest available, and their top-end bows enjoy the results of development and grueling testing for Olympic competition. Two of their recurve bows even made our top ten list: the Hoyt Buffalo and the Hoyt Gamemaster II.
Their website does a great job of showcasing their bows and many other offerings in an easy-to-navigate format. The website is also designed to be very interactive, offering blogs, polls, photos and even recipes. They have split the site into two main areas, one for hunting and one for target shooting to ensure you get the right information for your interests. They also have their manuals available for download, instructional videos, tuning charts and guidance, and even bow maintenance tips.

Hoyt Archery offers a number of recurve bows for both hunting and target shooting. Below is a list of their main categories of recurve bows:
Competition Bows
Hoyt offers 2 series of target bows designed for competition; both are takedown. The Grand Prix line of bows is the original target line and has been around for over 30 years. There are a variety of colors available and various limbs to allow for perfect customization. The Formula series of competition bows represents the most cutting-edge technology available and is truly the tops in terms of accuracy, smoothness and consistency. These are also available in a wide range of colors with multiple accessories that can also be color coordinated to the bow.
Hunting Bows
Hoyt offers 4 bows designed for hunting. These are also all takedowns and are available in a range of colors, from black on black to a black riser with a number of different limb color options. It is worth noting that the Hoyt Buffalo is possibly the finest hunting recurve available today and is the go to choice for many of our most experienced hunters.
Hoyt Archery Accessories
Hoyt has a wide range of accessories available in a broad range of categories. Below is a list of what they have to offer:
Color Accessories
This category is for those who really want to customize their target bows. There are multiple parts that are color matched for the Hoyt line of target bows and which will allow for you to be the sharpest looking one on the range.
Grips
There are an assortment of grips available to allow for a more custom feel for your Hoyt recurve bow. Some of these grips are not manufactured by Hoyt, but they are offered on their website and are designed specifically to fit the Hoyt line.
Clothing
Hoyt offers a wide array of clothing to allow you to show your pride in your Hoyt bow. There is a full line of men’s clothing, and a separate category for the ladies as well. Everything from t-shirts to shooting shirts, jackets and hats is available on their site.
Miscellaneous
This is one of those categories that really lets you know that an archery company has a strong following. Hoyt offers a good selection of gear with their logo including duffel bags, backpacks, shooters towels and even a cool barstool to give you that one up on your buddies. An interesting item offered is a banner that you can get (either in 8’ or 4’) if you really want to take your support to the next level.
Used Hoyt recurve bows for Sale
Purchasing any used recurve bow comes with its own set of risks. If you really want to purchase a used Hoyt recurve bow, we recommend only doing so where you can personally inspect the bow, or take it to your local pro shop to be looked at before handing over your money. Any used recurve can have defects that the previous owner may or may not be aware of, and which can only be recognized by an experienced shooter.
It is generally best for folks who are new to archery to purchase a less expensive new recurve rather than getting (what seems to be) a great deal on an expensive bow. Take a moment to check out our top 10 recurve bows where you can read reviews and compare prices.
